  • History & Service Overview:
    Crossroads developed Just for You, a program for older youth in foster care in 1986. The program is designed to teach youth the basic life skill necessary to function on their own. We provide individualized instruction and experiential learning along with group activities.

  • Program Goal:
    The goal is to assist youth in foster care with the transition to independent living by helping them to acquire the skills and the tools necessary to function and live independently, including the ability to maintain employment.

  • Target Population:
    The program serves male and female youth, ages 16-18, who are aging out of the foster care system. Referrals are accepted from the Division of Youth & Family Services' Burlington County District Office.

  • Services:
    - Basic Life Skills including cooking, budgeting, money management and opening a savings account
    - Employment Skills including marketable job readiness and interviewing skills
    - Educational Guidance including completion of high school or alternative education program, tutoring (as needed), exploration of higher education options (such as college or technical school) and driver's education (available to qualified youth)
    - Community Resource Skills including accessing and identifying the appropriate resources needed to obtain emergency information, official documents such as a driver's license, social security card or birth certificate, utilizing newspapers, phonebook and the telephone to obtain the necessary community resources
    - Communication Skills targeting the areas of listening, feedback, conflict resolution and public speaking
    - Interpersonal Relationship Skills for the purpose of developing and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships
