Rites of Passage provides supportive housing and intensive life skills training in a community living environment for 10 youth (ages 17½ to 21 years) who are "aging-out" of the child protection system and are in need of additional supports to make a successful transition.

  • Program Goal:
The program is designed to enable at risk youth to successfully transition to independent, self-sufficient young adulthood. Residents may stay up to 18 to 24 months. They are required to contribute to the household while completing an educational program and gaining employment skills and experience. The goal for each youth is to acquire skills - at his own pace, accept responsibilities as a member of the household, and start practicing the skills needed for self-sufficiency. A mandatory savings fund provides a nest egg for independent living.
